Just four days ago, on July 20, a friend sent me a link about barefoot walking.
Until that moment, I had never even heard of the idea.
The whole concept of intentionally walking barefoot on natural ground for health was completely new to me.
Curious, I started watching more videos.
One video turned into several.
Then several turned into many.
The more testimonies I watched, the more fascinated I became.
I watched testimony after testimony from people who said walking barefoot on natural ground had changed their lives. Some spoke of relief from chronic pain, inflammation, and insomnia. Others described improvements in their overall health. A few shared extraordinary stories of recovering from illnesses as serious as cancer and Alzheimer’s disease after faithfully walking barefoot over time.
Hearing so many people share these experiences made me stop and ask, “What if there’s more to God’s creation than we’ve realized?”
As a Christian, I believe God still performs miracles. Throughout the Bible, God often used ordinary things in extraordinary ways. The power was never in the object itself—it was always in Him.
So instead of simply wondering about it, I decided to do something.
My family and I have our own reasons for hoping this journey might make a difference. As the weeks go by, I’ll share more about each of us and why this project means so much to our family.
So I’m building a barefoot walking path in our backyard.
My mom, my sisters, and I will walk it together.
We’ll continue following our doctors’ guidance while praying, observing carefully, and recording our experiences over the weeks and months ahead.
Do I hope for a miracle?
Absolutely.
I believe the God who worked miracles in Scripture is still the same God today.
Whether He chooses to work through this journey, through medicine, through both, or in ways I don’t yet understand is entirely in His hands. My responsibility is simply to take the first step in faith and faithfully tell the story.
If nothing changes, I’ll write about that.
If something changes, I’ll write about that too.
Either way, this journal will be an honest record of our family’s journey.
And today, that journey begins.
This morning I stepped into the backyard with a stake, a string, and a shovel. By the end of the day, the first outline of our barefoot walking path would be marked into the ground.
It wasn’t much to look at yet.
But every journey starts with a single step, and every path begins with breaking the ground.
